The Vienna Institute for Strauss Research (WISF for short) is a supporting organization for scientific research projects relating to the Viennese Strauss family of musicians and their contemporaries.
We are deliberately not a “Strauss Society”. We are interested in the long-needed in-depth, academic approach so that this popular music is finally taken seriously and not just “somehow” marketed. With this in mind, we support the HoS with the visual documentation and are delighted that the WISF has found a home at the HoS.

“Wiener” points out that although Strauss research is already conducted internationally, it is still a Viennese affair and should and must remain firmly anchored in Vienna.
